Prototype strategies
Last week in Milwaukee, the Mayor held a "jobs forum". Often, these type of discussions are too vague to be useful.
Here's one way to avoid the trap of bumper sticker thinking.
Focus the discussion with prototype strategies. Launch focused table discussions in which participants are expected to move from the prototype to an action plan in about an hour. The participants refine the prototypes based on their assets and opportunities.
Here are some examples of prototype strategies...
- "Economic gardening" strategies to support high impact growth companies
- Product development strategies to support in manufacturing firms to drive top-line growth
- Energy efficiency strategies to reduce energy consumption among manufacturing firms
- Export promotion strategies to support foreign market entry
- Zero-landfill manufacturing strategies to reduce waste
- "Plug the leak" strategies for neighborhoods and communities
That's how to move the conversations toward action.
