One of the more significant challenges we face involves coming up with a new visual language to bridge the gap in understanding among employers, job seekers, education specialists, and workforce groups. We need new ways of communicating the complex competencies -- knowledge, skills and abilities -- that characterize emerging occupations and new career pathways. One example of the new language comes in the excellent work taking place in Oregon to chart new career pathways.
